Hi there,
This issue's mover-safety check: the phone quote
If a mover gives you a price over the phone for a whole house, without seeing your things in person or on a live video call, be careful. Lowball phone quotes are how many moving-day price jumps start.
- Ask every mover for an in-home or video survey.
- Show them everything, including the garage and attic.
- For an interstate move, look up their USDOT number on FMCSA's mover search before you pay a deposit.

This issue's tip: the first-night box
Pack one box per person with sheets, a towel, a change of clothes, medications, chargers, toilet paper and a few snacks. Keep it in your car, not the truck.
Seasonal note
Fall and winter are quieter for movers. If your dates are flexible, a mid-week, mid-month move now may cost less than the same move in July.
Happy moving,
